Technique :
During the Midface Lift, the descended midface is lifted using sutures that are suspended to the temporal fascia. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, targeting areas beneath the eyes and lateral to the nasolabial fold.
The incision is made in the scalp, just above the hairline, minimizing visible scarring. The fascia is then accessed, and hang-back sutures are prepared on both sides of the face. These sutures are directed upward and passed laterally to the canthus, exiting at the temporal area.
Once the sutures are retrieved, they are gently pulled, and the suture is tied to the temporalis fascia to adjust the elevation of the malar fat pad. This procedure is repeated on both sides, and the temporal area is closed with a continuous, thin suture.
Results:
Facelift surgery is a key part of facial rejuvenation, aiming to improve facial symmetry and achieve a satisfactory midface lift. The primary goal is vertical elevation, as gravity and loss of elasticity cause facial aging. The sagging of the malar fat pad contributes to deeper nasolabial folds, especially in patients around the age of 40. Although facelift surgery has potential complications, such as damage to the facial nerve (which may cause partial facial paralysis) and scar tissue formation (especially in smokers and vegetarians), the use of inert suture material to suspend the malar tissues above the nasolabial sulcus minimizes these risks.The results are particularly dramatic in patients with moderate nasolabial folds and less noticeable in older patients with more prominent folds. This technique proves beneficial as an adjunct for young patients undergoing facial rejuvenation surgery or older patients who have previously had facelift surgeries.
